Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Abubakar Saifullah(referred to here as "I", "me", or "my") handles information in connection with this portfolio website (referred to here as the "Site"). It's a personal portfolio, not a company or agency, and I don't sell personal data or share it with data brokers.

When you use the contact form, you may submit your name, email address, company (optional), a topic, and your message. Submitting the form sends this information straight to my inbox by email. It isn't written to a database, and it isn't stored anywhere on the Site itself. The only place that data lives afterward is my email account and the mail relay used to deliver it.

The form also includes a hidden field used to catch automated spam submissions (a "honeypot"). This field isn't visible to human visitors and isn't used to identify or track you in any way.

Email delivery runs through a transactional email provider (Resend) acting as an SMTP relay, or through standard SMTP if that's configured instead. That provider only processes the message to deliver it to me, and it doesn't appear anywhere else on the Site.

This Site may use Google Analytics (GA4) to get a sense of overall traffic, things like which pages get viewed and how visitors generally find the Site. Google Analytics runs in your browser and may set its own cookies or use similar technologies to tell visitors apart. I don't use this data to identify you personally, and I never combine it with anything you submit through the contact form. If you'd rather opt out, you can use a browser extension such as Google's Analytics opt-out add-on, or browser settings that block third-party scripts and cookies.

The "Ask about my work" assistant on this Site answers questions using a fixed set of prewritten questions and answers about my background and experience. It runs entirely in your browser, so no external AI provider is called, nothing you type into it is sent anywhere, and none of it is stored. Closing or refreshing the page clears the conversation.

The Site stores your light/dark theme preference in your browser's local storage so it can remember it on your next visit. This isn't a cookie, isn't sent to any server, and contains no personal information. Aside from any cookies Google Analytics sets (see Section 3), the Site doesn't use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Information collected through this Site is used only for the specific purposes it was gathered for. In particular, it's used to:

• Respond to messages sent through the contact form.
• Understand overall Site usage and improve its content (via analytics).
• Keep the Site secure and prevent spam or abuse of the contact form.

Contact form submissions only exist as an email in my inbox. I keep them for as long as it takes to respond to your enquiry, plus a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping, then delete them at my discretion. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention settings.

Depending on where you're located, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal data you've sent me, for example a message submitted through the contact form. To exercise any of these rights, email me at contact@abubakarsaifullah.com and I will respond as soon as reasonably possible.

The Site relies on a small number of third-party services to function: Google Analytics for traffic analytics, an email/SMTP relay such as Resend for contact form delivery, and the hosting provider that serves the Site. Each of these providers only processes the limited data needed to provide their service, and operates under their own privacy policy.

This Site is a professional portfolio and isn't directed at children. I don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Site or to applicable law. The "Effective date" above reflects the most recent revision.
